Wow, do I feel OLD!

April 7th, 2010

Not that this is breaking news or anything, but, I was reading an article about some of the amazing new features that will be crammed into Adobe Photoshop CS5. That's awesome and all, but I was thinking...

It's 2010 and we're on the verge of seeing Photoshop 12.0 (CS4 is v11, CS3 v10 and so on).

What this means for me is that I have been using Photoshop since the 4.0 days. (I know, I know! I'm sure some out there will tell me I'm still a young pup!) I first gazed upon the promised land back in 1996 and haven't looked back since. Now all these years later and Adobe continuously releases new improvements and features that leave me speechless every time. Problem is, it also makes me feel a little older every time. Considering what we as graphic designers gain every time they release a new version, though, it's a small price to pay!

Digital CameraNP: The Eternal Idol, by Black Sabbath

For the past few days I have been working on a flash gallery that I can use for displaying my portfolio pieces. After a LOT of caffeine and a fair amount of cursing I think I have something that works. It's a little bigger than I like but it does the job. Now, I just need to create galleries for my web design and my digital art as well. Those will be coming down the pike soon enough, so please keep a look-out for those. In the meantime, however, please feel free to give me feedback on it! I appreciate feedback and constructive criticism as often as I can get it.

I'm by no means a programmer, so the gallery swf uses mainly tweens with a smattering of Actionscript thrown in to make the whole thing work. I'm actually surprised I know as much Actionscript as I do. I'd be up the creek without a paddle if I had to take on a massive project that required extensive Actionscripting knowledge. Thank goodness they invented programmers for that, however!

I'm heading off to the woods for a camping trip with the family, tomorrow, so maybe I'lkl have some more photography to add to my collection. That is if a bear doesn't eat us, first...
